FFG is the perfect place to launch. In so many ways starting a business is about moving beyond fear and it helps to have such a supportive team and useful source of information and business training. I came into this experience as a mid-level nonprofit development professional at a time in my life where owning my own time for family, community, and myself has become more appealing. I’m still putting my business together, but I have gained a ton of value that will make the launch feel more comfortable and feasible. The program combines practical business strategy with deep nonprofit sector experience, which I found difficult to find elsewhere. I’ve already felt the shift in my own perspective and how I view consulting. There’s something about the service design process specifically that feels empowering. Taking the experience that we sometimes undervalue as a norm in our careers and realizing how marketable and valuable these services are to nonprofits and small businesses who need our expertise begins to change the way we think about ourselves. Even as I interview for other full-time jobs right now, I see my own work differently and my attitude about my role as a staff employee has started to shift. If you have the resources, I don’t think you can go wrong in investing in yourself. The training, the mindset shifts, and just having people to reach out to when you have questions is what it all comes down to. The network of support is what seems to make a big difference for small businesses, and I’m grateful for this experience. Looking forward to other ways of engaging with the team as a critical resource in my journey. 10/10 Recommend!
